Review: Vengeance of Vampirella #7

It’s been awhile since we had a monthly Vampirella book to review. Vengeance of Vampirella #7 is the first new read since Diamond temporarily paused distribution of comic books. The book is once again written by Tom Sniegoski and Michael Sta. Maria returns on art after we had a substitute artist for issue 6.

Issue begins with Vampirella still recovering from her injuries in stasis. Once she is awakened, she reveals that she wants to resurrect the Danse Macabre. In order to accomplish this, she and Pendragon investigate a property owned by the former leader of the Danse Macabre. They find the house set up with supernatural traps in an apparent effort to safeguard something.

Meanwhile,  a conflict between Nyx and the Lords of Chaos is brewing. Disappointed that Nyx allowed Vampirella to return, they send four advisors to supervise Nyx. Naturally this doesn’t sit well with her and she later has her minions destroy the advisors. With Nyx now in open revolt against Chaos that opens up anoth interesting plot thread to follow. We now have three separate factions in conflict – Vampirella, Nyx, and Chaos.

It was great to be reading a new Vampirella issue again and Sniegoski and Co. delivered another solid issue as I’ve become accustomed to. Sta. Maria and Omi Remalante Jr. (colors) provide some very fine visuals as well. There are quite a few pages in this one where you’ll want to slow down and admire their work!

I believe Vampirella/Red Sonja is the next book to hit the shelves later this week. Be sure to check that one out and stop by here for a review!
