Review: Vampirella #4

Vampirella #4 was released by Dynamite on July 5, 2017.  I just had a chance to sit down and read it, so let me share my thoughts.

I keep reading issue after issue of Vampirella hoping that it will be a return to form for the character. After reading this one, I’m still no closer to getting that.  This is more of the same with a bit more of a supernatural element added to the mix.

After the events of issue 3, our hero finds herself in the afterlife, which is apparently hell.  She meets Satan, who offers her the chance to rule one of the circles of hell.  Vampirella agrees to rule the circle where her friends are (apparently all of Vampirella’s friends that went before her ended up in the same circle of hell?). At the end of the issue, we see that Vampirella has a plan up her sleeve, but we must wait until issue 5 to see what it is.

That’s really all that happened in this one (a sad commentary on the state of modern comics and their decompressed storytelling. More money for less story).

If you want to check out this issue, head over to your local comic shop or online at Comixology.
